Practical solutions for the betterment of people in need. You're not heavy ~ you're my brother!

Offering hope through action: Lest We Forget Society’s mission is to provide relief and guidance to poverty stricken and vulnerable individuals by finding local relief resources and mediating on their behalf to find the best possible outcome.

Providing guidance: With all the available help, many people don’t have the skills, or are physically, mentally or situationally incapable of following the processes to get the help they need. Many don’t have an email or a physical address. Some don’t have photo ID. These barriers result in substandard living.

  • Lest We Forget works with people to obtain the information required to fill out and file complex forms for relief and provides cover letters explaining the situation.

  • Provides a legitimate email to monitor notifications regarding case statuses. This one item can completely change a person’s life for the better.

As donations and volunteers increase, Lest We Forget will increase administratively, assisting with forms, applications, letters, etc. We direct and help people gain access to relief resources such as housing, healthcare, employment, community outreaches, local foodbanks and churches, the Legion, charitable organizations that provide food, clothing, furniture, education and other survival opportunities.

Because each distress situation is unique, assessment and relief is provided on a case by case basis.

Hands on assistance example: A woman called having fled domestic violence – causing immediate homelessness. Victim services was contacted and steps were taken to retrieve her. She was flown from Alberta to her BC hometown where she stayed in a safe transition home. Victim services and a local charity provided counselling and legal assistance. With help, she entered permanent low-income shelter, where she is provided daily meals, allowed to keep her pet, and on-site staff helping with heath care needs.

Other examples of assistance include:

  • Filling out application forms and writing letters (for people with no computer or technical skills) to various organizations that provide relief, such as GIS, SAFER, and other income supplements, filing income taxes, applications for disability assistance, etc.

  • Helping veterans navigate Veteran’s Affairs to find benefits available to them, working with the RC Legion and other veterans organizations.

  • Applying for housing on behalf of those with no access to computers. Monitoring and following up with applications.

  • Helping families navigate local health authorities’ processes to gain care necessary for disabled loved ones. Providing transportation to doctor’s appointments, emergency care.

  • Delivering food supplies and in person visits for shut-ins, elderly, etc.

  • Pickup and delivery of end of day Cobs bread to shelters and low income communities.

  • Preparing sandwiches for local charitable outreaches to homeless individuals.

  • Researching and connecting local charities with people in need.

For example:

- An on-line charitable community was notified about a woman that had lost her phone fleeing domestic violence. A woman donated a quality android and Lest We Forget purchased phone service.

When Lest We Forget becomes aware – that need will be addressed to the best possible outcome.
